Hi friends, and welcome to 5 Minute Mission, where every blog is a 5-minute read, every podcast a 5-minute listen. I am your host, Sean Edwards- a 23-year-old business owner living in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
If this is the first time you’ve ever heard my name, then it’s a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, and I hope that you’ll stick around.
I have been working on this project over the last 6 months, and I’m super excited to begin sharing my work with all of you. It’s a scary thing to share something you create with an audience, especially when you don’t know how it will be received. It’s an interesting thing, isn’t it? We hold so much value in other people’s opinions, that we sometimes allow them to get in the way of our aspirations.
To be completely honest, this does scare me a bit. But there’s something that scares me much more, and that’s regret. That’s sitting down at 85-years-old and realizing that I lived by someone else’s rules, that I didn’t push myself out of my comfort zone, that I allowed the potential of failure to keep me from ever truly succeeding.
I have no intention of living that way, and in December 2018 I decided that this was going to be my way out of my comfort zone. In that same fashion, I hope that 5 Minute Mission can inspire some of you to go get a little uncomfortable. To break out of the metaphorical chains holding you back from living life to the fullest.
I certainly don’t think that I have any magic words or ideas to share with you, but what I do believe is that massive change does not come from one giant decision or event. Positive growth does not come overnight- it is born out of proactively forming daily habits conducive to success.
Perhaps my favorite quote of his is this, “We do not rise to the level of our goals, we fall to the level of our systems.”
James Clear has quickly become one of my favorite writers, his most recent book being “Atomic Habits” which I highly recommend. You will probably hear me refer to his work many times, as he is one of the main thought leaders on forming positive habits and behaviors.
I don’t know exactly who is listening to this or what you are currently going through, but I hope that this podcast, blog, and YouTube channel can equip you with tools which you can use to make your world a better place. I certainly can’t do that alone, but my goal is to share ideas which inspire you to go out and make things happen for yourself. If you’re with me, then I’m super happy to have you join, and I’ll be speaking with you very soon!
